Step 1.

Come up with a unique style of gameplay that is both simple and fun; an idea that takes you back to your childhood but in a completely new way. Bounce around the general concept and idea with a variety of audiences from a range of ages, and realise that you need to do this, for the people, really!

Step 2.

Get the basic game mechanics working to capture the heart of the game, and then test that the concept is solid and works well. Sleep on it. Now rethink everything and then test all over again! And then when you think you are done, rethink everything all over again and then... you guessed it, test and test again!

Step 3.

Stare down the blank canvas every day/night and hand draw thousands of game graphics, such as items, props, UI elements, objects, characters, video elements and then the hardest part, most importantly discard thousands of hand drawn game graphics along the way that didn't quite make the cut to make sure you have it right!...
